As a beginner, learning to throw strikes is easy. You have the entire area inside the gray box to target. You are immediately able to see where the ball hits, so you can then immediately make adjustments for the next pitch. The better you get, the more specific your targeting gets in the strike zone; from the gray outline, to the colored squares, to the specific numbers around the strike zone. The different stages of learning are all accounted for, and the player can develop at their own pace while challenging themselves along the way.The numbers on The Pitching Pad can also be used as an advanced training tool. In baseball, the movement of an off-speed pitch is oftentimes described by using numbers on a clock for reference. For example, a good curve ball can be described as moving 12 to 6. This is because the ball would start high in what would be in the 12 o'clock position and then move straight down
to what would be the 6 o'clock position.
